The purpose of sea trial is to check the buoy behavior against external force, data transmission function via satellite communication system and handling ability, and consequently to get various data for building the actual buoy. The sea trial was carried out from 21st Feb. 1996 to 29th Feb. 1996, using NATSUSHIMA, and the prototype buoy was deployed at Ogasawara sea area, as follows,
After deploy, the prototype buoy has been transmitting the sensor data to JAMSTEC via satellite communication system by every 3 hours. Figure 4 shows the deploy point. Various valuable data for building the actual buoy., obtained by this sea trial shall be referred in future development work.
